The Centre for Research, Evaluation Resources and Development (CRERD) is a non-profit, non governmental organization concerned with improving the understanding and delivery of population and health services and environmental development in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. CRERD is led by Co-Principal Investigators Dr. Musa Sani Zakirai and Dr. Funmilola OlaOlorun and Senior Technical Adviser Dr. Elizabeth Omoluabi.

Survey Results Summaries

PMA uses innovative mobile technology to support low-cost, rapid-turnaround surveys monitoring key health and development indicators. Surveys are completed by resident enumerators, uploaded to a central server via a mobile data network, cleaned and analyzed. Results are disseminated shortly after.

Musa Sani Zakirai

Musa Sani Zakirai, PhD

A Demographer trained in Nigeria, Dr. Musa Sani Zakirai has been involved in both quantitative and qualitative data collection activities in Nigeria since 1990 . An excellent trainer, Dr. Musa holds a doctorate and master’s degrees in Demography and Social Statistics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Bayero University, Kano. Musa has participated in survey and development of training activities with the Gates Institute of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has combed every state in Nigeria on survey work with the National Population Commission or CRERD.

Funmilola OlaOlorun, PhD, MPH, MBBS

Dr. Funmilola OlaOlorun is a Nigerian-trained community health physician who is passionate about the health of women across the lifecourse. She is particularly interested in family planning, women’s reproductive health, women’s involvement in household decision making, intimate partner violence, and menopause, as well as how these events, situations, and phases affect women’s general wellbeing. She has a PhD from the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins University, and has been a co-Principal Investigator with the PMA/Nigeria team since 2014. Funmilola has also been involved in research collaborations with colleagues from several non-governmental organizations. She is currently affiliated with the Department of Community Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

Olalekan Olagunju

Olalekan Olagunju is a Demographer and social statistician who has performed in social research roles for more than 7 years and he has excellent understanding of the dynamics of research management and administration in a developing country context. He has managed and contributed to the design, implementation, and publication of important social and health related studies in Nigeria. His background and experience has afforded him a skill set of leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills that have further improved the quality of his work.

Samuel Olanipekun Adebayo

Samuel Olanipekun Adebayo is a Nigerian-trained Demographer and Social Statistician who is passionate about producing quality data for social and health policy decision-making. Over the past decade, he has designed and implemented several data management architecture at National and state-level surveys. His research focuses on fertility, sexual and reproductive health, and migration. He has a MPhil from the department of Demography and Social statistics at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ife with strong skills in survey analytics and research methodology.

Oluwaseyi Adetutu Olubayo

Oluwaseyi Olubayo has spent her life using her personal and career experience to optimise the efficiency of working in Organisations. She has over 17 years’ experience as an Administrator and Office Manager, and over 5 years of experience as an avid researcher with certificates from several countries like South Africa, Germany and Nigeria. Oluwaseyi currently works for Commerzbank in Nigeria where she lives with her husband and three children.

Modupe Ochai is a vibrant, hardworking young lady who is passionate about achieving set goals by focusing on organisational core values and producing excellent results in a timely fashion. She has in the last seven years worked and grown with different social and health focused research projects in different capacities which have ingrained and improved in her, deep firsthand knowledge of research administration dynamics and organizational frameworks through field and office experiences. Her learning spirit and ability to pay great attention to minute details have equipped her to stand out in the transcription, translation, subtitling and script editing skills she possesses as well as other aspects of her personal and professional life.
